Has evening homework become a struggle for you and your child? Even though the school year has just begun, you may have a child feeling completely overwhelmed with their work load. Remember children have different learning styles. Talk with the child’s teachers and discuss the best method of studying for your child. Whether your child is an auditory, visual, or kinesthetic learner, adapting their homework time to fit the method that works best for them will benefit the child greatly. Instead of telling the child they must do homework for the next two hours, etc. break it down in small increments and create a list that they can check off. This will instill a level of accomplishment and motivation to continue. Encouraging your child and offering praise when they have completed a task or project with also give the child a boost of confidence.
